90210 heartthrob Coy Luther Perry III “Luke Perry” died today at the age of 52.
Perry’s representative Arnold Robinson said that doctors had sedated the star, hoping to provide his brain a fighting chance to recover from the trauma of the day prior’s stroke in his Sherman Oaks, California home but apparently the damage was too extensive.
Born in rural Fredericktown, Ohio – Perry had an extensive acting career in TV and Film beginning in the early 1980’s. Perry became a true hollywood star when he landed a role on ‘90210.’ After that, his career exploded including roles in The Fifth Element, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Incredible Hulk and Will & Grace. Most recently he’s had a starring role as Archie’s dad on CW’s hit show, “Riverdale.”
Luke Perry also completed filming of his role in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Charles Manson movie with Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Leonardo Caprio, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
On ‘90210,’ Luke starred as high school beau Dylan McKay for 10 seasons. He also had prominent roles on shows like “Another World,” “Oz,” “Jeremiah,” “Windfall,” “John from Cincinnati,” and “Body of Proof.”
Perry voiced himself in season 4 of The Simpsons for the episode “Krusty Gets Kancelled”.
A reboot of ‘90210’ was just announced on Wednesday with most of the original cast, but Luke had not signed on to be a regular on the series. We’re told he was down to do a few guest spots, but couldn’t commit to more than that due to his “Riverdale” schedule. Perry’s ‘90210’ costars Shannen Doherty and Ian Ziering posted messages of support for their friend shortly after his hospitalization.
Shannen Doherty posted to her Instagram praying for his recovery shortly after his falling ill: “My friend. Holding you tight and giving you my strength. You got this.”
Perry was surrounded by family and friends when he died, said his representative.
