Over this past weekend, Kelly Marie Tran from Star Wars fame, deleted all of her Instagram posts due to the constant harassment she received for her character Rose Tico, the new Rebellion Resistance fighter from “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”
While Kelly Marie’s Instagram account is still officially “active,” there is no activity. She kept the line in her profile: “Afraid, but doing it anyway.” After deleting her posts, Kelly Marie’s followers grew from 190k to 208k in just a few days.
Why the trolling? Well, there’s no justification, but some of the theories as to why Kelly Marie Tran received so many harassing trolls was due to the fact that “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” was not a hit among the hard core Star Wars fans. New characters such as Kelly Marie’s “Rose Tico,” were a proverbial curve ball to fan favorite story lines such as the potential love connection between the characters Finn (played by John Boyega) and Rey (played by Daisy Ridley). “Rose Tico” sort of threw a potential wrench in that love connection as she finished her onscreen appearance by surprising Finn with a stolen kiss.
Friendly reminder to all ye trolls who harassed Kelly Marie: IT’S ALL FAKE!!! THESE ARE JUST MOVIES! YES, THEY MAKE US CARE AND FEEL, BUT KELLY MARIE IS A REAL PERSON! AND SHE DIDN’T WRITE THE MOVIE!!! SHE PLAYED HER PART BRILLIANTLY!!! FURTHER, HER CHARACTER’S SISTER DIED A MARTYR’S DEATH IN THE OPENING SCENE FOR THE REBELLION!!! WHERE’S YOUR LOYALTY???
Plus, we hear that personally, Kelly Marie is super sweet and was incredibly humbled by the Star Wars experience with exception to the Social Media circus of trolls.
We hope Kelly Marie returns to Social Media to prove that these haranguing trolls did not win.
