After 12 days of testimony in Bill Cosby’s Retrial, Bill Cosby has been found guilty on all three counts of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand. In 2005, the police were informed by Constand that Cosby drugged and assaulted her back in 2004. Constand filed a civil suit after prosecutors declined to press charges. Dozens of women have made similar sexual accusations against Cosby. The comedian could face up to 30 years in prison when sentenced.
It was reported that the jurors spent nearly 15 hours over two days deciding the verdict after being charged on Monday morning.
When the verdict was read, Cosby appeared calm while the victims in the courtroom shrieked with joy. It wasn’t until Judge Steven O’Neill began discussing bail that Cosby became irritated. The Judge stated that Cosby would remain free on bail until sentencing. The Prosecutor, Steele, pleaded with the Judge to jail Cosby immediately stating that he was a flight risk and owned a plane.
Cosby shouted back, “He doesn’t have a plane, you asshole.”
No date has been announced for sentencing, but Pennsylvania state law requires it within 100 days of a conviction.
“We are very disappointed by the verdict,” Cosby’s lead defense attorney Tom Mesereau stated. “We don’t think Mr. Cosby is guilty of anything, and the fight is not over.” It looks like Cosby’s lawyers will be pursuing an appeal.
Bill Cosby is 80 years old.
