Diana, Princess of Wales, was heir apparent of Queen Elizabeth II. Princess Di or Lady Di as we all knew her, married Charles (Prince of Wales) and the world was in love! While the marriage was never perfect, they bore two bundles of joy: William & Harry.
The marriage between Princess Di and Prince Charles rapidly deteriorated with scandal and they divorced on August 28th, 1996.
Tragically, just 1 year later (almost to the day) on August 31st, 1997, she died in car crash in Paris with her companion Dodi Fayed and their driver, Henri Paul. Diana was just 36 years old.
Twenty years after the tragedy, Sergeant Xavier Gourmelon finally stated that her last words were:
“My God, what’s happened?”
Her legacy will continue to live on in her extraordinary charity work, her philanthropic sons and her inspiring quotes like this one:
“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”
