CNN has terminated their contract with Kathy Griffin after the comedian posted a photo of herself holding a fake, bloodied, decapitated head of President Donald Trump.
The photo was a result of a photo shoot with a provocative and controversial, celebrity photographer named Tyler Shields.
To Kathy Griffin’s credit, she has apologized for the photo and has asked Shields to take the photo down.
Griffin regrets the photo, “I beg for your forgiveness. I went too far. I made a mistake and I was wrong.”
Griffin was the co-host with CNN’s Anderson Cooper since 2007, but will not be rejoining as co-host for ringing in the new year in 2018.
Cooper, Chelsea Clinton and many other celebrities are denouncing the photo. Chelsea Clinton put it best via Twitter, “It is never funny to joke about killing a president.”
