Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales takes the #1 spot in the Box Office with an estimated $62,179,000 beating out Guardians of the Galazy Vol. 2 and Baywatch.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is the 5th, but definitely not the last of the Pirates series. This sequel explores the origin of “Captain Jack Sparrow” rightfully earning his name and why he dons much of what he still wears “today.” (And by “today,” I mean “back then.” Not that he was real…but you get what I’m saying…savvy?)
“It’s endless fun…he’s a really fun character to play because I’m allowed to be as IRREVERENT as I want.”
The film introduces two new characters: Carina Smyth (played by Kaya Scodelario) and Henry Turner (played by Brenton Thwaites), son of Will Turner. These two instantly make a connection in the film by necessity and the shared desire to reunite with their fathers.
With the return of Barbossa & the Monkey, “Jack” along with a few other familiar faces, the film delivers on its legacy of scurvy dogs the Pirates fan base has fallen in love with. Regardless as to whether or not you can recognize any of the previous characters, this movie stands on its own. You do not need to see the first four to enjoy number 5.
In fact, this sequel has an incredible villain named “Captain Salazar” played by Javier Bardem (from No Country for Old Men fame). His power of revenge & death is great, but limited by the sea which consumed him.
Don’t forget to stay after the credits to see the teaser! It’s dripping with anticipation!
